George William Mariner Ellard Born in Easton, Northants in about January 1848, he died in Lambeth aged 90 in January 1938.
In 1871 he was a corn merchant's clerk living in Bucklersbury, Hitchin. He later became a commercial traveller. A newspaper article in the local press in 1930 shows he was a player between 1866 and 1872 and that in old age he recalled nothing at all about Hitchin Football Club's involvement in the first FA Cup competition in November 1871.

James Ellard Brother of George Ellard, he was born in Easton, Northants in about April 1850. In 1871 he was a chemist's assistant living in Bucklersbury, Hitchin.

Sir Robert Dalrymple Horn Elphinstone (12 Sep 1841, Oyne, Aberdeenshire - 11 Feb 1887, St James Hotel, Piccadilly)
3rd Baronet (he inherited his title shortly before he died). Harrow School XI 1859. Wanderers FC 1865-1868.
One game played for Hitchin: 9 Mar 1867 Hitchin 0 Old Harrovians 3.
The first visiting player to score against Hitchin 24 Feb 1866 (a 2-1 win for Hitchin against 'Mr Elphinstone's XI', a scratch team sent down by the famous Wanderers Club).

William Henry English (3 Jun 1864 Redditch - 7 Jul 1956 Canada)
Hitchin Boys Grammar School assistant master 1890-97.
In 1891 he was living at 33, Bedford Street, Hitchin with other HBGS school masters. In 1901 he was a private tutor living in Tilehouse Street, Hitchin.
He emigrated with his family to Canada in 1903, where he became a pioneer and a dissenting Canon (clergyman).
He served four years as Secretary of the Hertfordshire Football Association.

In 1891 he lived at Arlesey.
Played for Bedfordshire at cricket 1891-4, 1902 & 1903 and also the Asylum XI.
Son of the Reverend John Downes Hawksley, who was chaplain of the Three Counties Asylum, Arlesey for 31 years.
