A slight improvement this time against a very ordinary Alvechurh. My feelings are that the defence might be OK if they had a better quality of players in front of them. So while we defended reasonably well we had nothing going forward. We pressed very well but once we had won the ball we almost always gave it away through poor passing and big boots down the field to no one in particular. We just never looked like scoring. There being little cohesion and a lack of pace and sharpness up front.
Our undoing was the one display of such pace and sharpness from the opposition. Many thought it blatantly offside, but such attacks delivered at speed give that appearance. The question is was he offside at the moment that the pass was instigated rather than when it arrived? It was done so very quickly that I couldn't tell.
Even worse than last year
