AFC Dunstable Beds County Final

Well done to AFC Dunstable for winning the 2025 Beds Senior Cup, 3-2 against Barton Rovers. I missed the match because my computer skills were not up to signing on to the LTFC ticketing site (no doubt my fault, not theirs!). I watched a lovely youtube clip of the match and noticed some familiar play...

Re: Hitchin College Gigs 1970s

7 April 1973.The Edgar Broughton Band arrived at the College to provide a truly memorable gig for the packed assembly of students (plus a few 20 something boozers like me!) The stage only just managed to hold the massed ranks of speakers and amps, as the band blasted out such classics as 'Apache Dro...

Non-League Day 2025

With Hitchin playing way up north, and AFC Dunstable on a poor run of form, I opted for yet another trip to Creasey Park, to watch Dunstable Town v Potton United. A 'pay what you want' day, I gave my usual £6.00, and purchased a fact-filled, colourful programme for £3.00 (which came with the free gi...

Re: Hitchin College Gigs 1970s

'73 was a very busy year for College gigs. 23 Feb 1973 Patto & Fusion Orchestra. Admission was cash only then, and my friends and I would often be asked to provide (amateur) security when the cash was transferred from the front desk to the office. The bands would often send someone to the office...

10th February 1973
A great double header at the College, Pink Fairies and Babe Ruth.
11th February 1973
A short trip to Hatfield Poly to watch comedy supergroup Grimms. We all sat on the floor as John Gorman, Viv Stanshall and friends entertained us.

Re: Hitchin College Gigs 1970s

Can't remember who did the College discos. There was a local disco called Trip Machine with links to local band Halcyon? Trip Machine did a few gigs at Hatfield Poly, another great venue for students' discos. I wont mention the Medicine Head gigs at Hitchin College........
